“If you look at Solar Burst closely, you will see very pale pinks and greens. To hold the central image, I needed a lot of gray value in the field around it. I learned a lot about yellow doing this series, although I am not proposing that these prints did more than scratch the surface of that technical problem. I would like to go back to yellow as a problem in itself, but I am convinced that inks are not the right medium. They don't have the materiality.
