COMMENTS
Wayne sometimes used Djuna as a nom de plume. The title of the painting is a quiet tribute to the early 20th century feminist writer and rebel Djuna Barnes. (Source: The Art of Everything, Robert Conway, 2007)

The black gesso surface captures and plays with light and perspective, and provides a profoundly meditative experience, and is seen differently from every changing angle of viewing.
